Giving at Jericho Ridge
Options are usually a good thing, especially when it comes to your finances. That's why we have multiple ways that you can give to the ministry of Jericho Ridge. Here's a summary of ways that you can give:
Sunday Morning Offering
Some things at church don’t change, like the Sunday morning offering. Each Sunday we pass around offering bags so that people can contribute to the work that we've been called to. If you provide us with your basic contact information, you'll receive a charitable tax receipt from us at the end of the year for your contribution(s). All we need to know is your:
- Name
- Address
- Amount given
- E-mail address or phone number
If you're writing a cheque, please make it payable to Jericho Ridge Community Church.
If you choose to give regularly on Sunday mornings, you can get personalized envelopes with your giving number pre-stamped on them so that all you have to do is insert your donation and write down the fund that it’s for. You can contact Tammy Smethurst and she'll set this up for you.
Online Banking
You can give a donation at anytime and from anywhere through online banking. All you have to do is registerJericho Ridge Community Church as a bill payee and use your giving number as your account number.
If you don’t have a giving number, or you forget what it is (hey, it happens to all of us), contact Tammy Smethurst.
We are currently registered with the following financial institutions:
- All Credit Unions
- Scotia Bank
- Bank of Montreal
- HSBC
(Unfortunately, we are unable to provide online giving options through Royal Bank, TD Canada Trust, or CIBC due to their high administration costs.)
Pre-Authorized Debit
If you find that you give the same amount at the same time each month, Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) is a great giving option for you to consider. You can set this up by downloading and completing the PAD authorization form and submitting it to Tammy Smethurst at the JRCC office or by dropping it into the offering bag on a Sunday morning. Please complete the form in its entirety, with the exception of the Payee Account section, and attach a voided cheque to the PAD form. This will ensure that the set up process is done accurately. Please note that we usually set up PAD transactions on the 1st or 15th of the month.
FAQs
All donations are applied to our general budget unless you specifically state otherwise. Any amount you want allocated to another fund must be directed to one of our elder-approved projects (see the next question regarding current projects).
If you give on Sunday mornings, please use the project line to indicate the fund and amount allocated to it. If you give online or through pre-authorized debit, please e-mail the church office with the project and amount you would like your donation allocated toward. Please do this before you make the donation.
Please note Jericho Ridge’s policy for donations:
Spending of funds is confined to programs and projects approved by the organization. Each restricted contribution designated towards such an approved program or project will be used as designated with the understanding that when the need for such a program or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason determined by the organization, the remaining restricted contributions will be used where needed most as directed by the board.
From time to time, the Board of Elders will approve the giving toward a project that falls outside of the general operating budget. This is usually done in response to a cost that was not anticipated (such as disaster relief) or a short-term missions project.
There are currently two elder-approved projects that you can give toward:
- Benevolence Fund (this is an ongoing project)
- Guatemala Team (spring missions project)

Completely. All personal information that is collected will be kept private and confidential. Access to this information is severely restricted in accordance with privacy laws and financial policies commensurate with the Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC). If you require additional information, please contact Tammy Smethurst.
If you want to change the amount, a new authorization form will need to be signed and submitted to the JRCC office. Please submit this form at least two weeks before your next scheduled withdrawal. If you anticipate that you will want to change the amount of your monthly giving more frequently than twice a year, please consider an alternative giving option. It will provide less work for everyone.
Jericho Ridge Community Church is an approved charity with the Canadian Revenue Agency and therefore files an annual report to maintain our charitable status. In addition, our membership votes on and approves the operational budget in advance of every calendar year.
